Context

The Accelerator Labs (Acclab) is a global network within the United Nations Development Programme to tap into local innovations and collective intelligence to create actionable insights for sustainable development.

In 2020 Acclab Vietnam set out to build a local community—Vietnam Accelerator Lab Community (VALC)—consisting of young leaders who wanted to create change in the world around them. We partnered with Acclab Vietnam and organized a training course to kickstart this community.

Our role

Our program was based on three pillars: personal leadership, project management, and social innovation. In each pillar, we designed workshops to help participants reflect and learn from each other as well as Acclab’s experts. The topics ranged from Personal Values to Project Creation Tools.

Outcomes

A deep understanding was built in the participants about the different ways of collaboration across diverse groups when tackling sustainability challenges.  A community was formed and some went on to work with AccLab Vietnam.

Context

Every year the team gets together for an offsite to reflect and find the way forward. In 2018, the topic of diversity and navigating differences was so present the team decided to spend a day in their offsite to work specifically on how they can invite more understanding and empathy in the team in order to work better together.

Our role

  • Work together with the head of the team to identify needs and prioritize desired outcomes
  • Introduce framework of effective collaboration
  • Introduce exercises for the team to experience deep listening and build connection
  • Help the team reflect back on their communication strengths and weaknesses, then co-create ways to improve and move towards the desired direction via games and group discussions
  • Harvest discussion’s outcomes

Outcomes

  • Simple exercises and games for the team to get to know each other personally and professionally
  • A rhythm of checking in with each other to assure the work is up and running
